RULE CHANGE- Effective February 2024 The rule: “No whips or slapping with reins to be used on horses or cattle. No fixed headsets (head checks) allowed on hoses during competition, rings are allowed with split reins only. This rule now includes: “Spilt reins – any open or junior rider must ride in split reins, subbies are exempt and may ride in joined reins. All reins must be able to be split under pressure. They must not be securely joined by a buckle or a single/sporting rein. EG: reins can be joined at the end with a safety device or an elastic band that can give way in the event of contact or entanglement with a beast.”
CLARIFICATION ON DRESS CODE All contestants must wear a hat and boots and a (recommended) long sleeved shirt with buttons and collar or jacket. Men’s or women’s long pants (jeans) are required. All contestants are encouraged to maintain an Australian country image. Boots must be recognised as riding boots with a heel. Approved safety helmets to be worn at all events.
